Held in Antalya to strengthen the position of traditional sports on the international stage, the 8th Ethnosport Forum brought together representatives of the global sports community, government officials, and cultural heritage ambassadors.

The event began with a presentation by World Ethnosport Union Board Member Mustafa Eröğüt titled “The Global Impact of Multisport Events – The ‘Ethnosports 2027’ Framework” and continued with numerous panels and sessions where the future of traditional sports was discussed.

High-Level Participation Achieved

The Forum attracted significant global attention, with the participation of:

  • Osman Aşkın Bak, Minister of Youth and Sports of Türkiye
  • Farid Gayibov, Minister of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan
  • Yerbol Myrzabossynov, Minister of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan
  • Dr. Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation
  • Nayif Salih Al-Bakri, Minister of Youth and Sports of Yemen
  • Urmat Asanbaev, Chairman of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports of Kyrgyzstan
  • Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States

In addition, ministers, deputy ministers, and heads of national sports commissions from more than 10 countries participated in the Forum.

During the High-Level Ministers’ Panel, a shared commitment was emphasized to elevate traditional sports beyond local boundaries and establish them as one of the most prestigious multisport organizations in the world. Minister of Youth and Sports of Türkiye Osman Aşkın Bak underlined that ethnosport serves as a strategic shield protecting youth from modern challenges such as addiction and social isolation.

Communications Panel Held

Within the framework of the Ethnosports 2027 vision, a Communications Panel was held as part of the Forum. Moderated by TürkMedya Executive Board Member Ziyad Varol, the panel featured:

  • Vice President of the Libyan National Sports Journalists Association Ali Sadek H. Hmedat
  • Sports Management Expert Nada Vallone
  • Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) Consultant Konstantinos Vernikos

The panel addressed actionable strategies regarding the global visibility of traditional sports, audience engagement, storytelling, and the international media positioning of Ethnosports 2027.

Traditional Sports Awards Handed Out

Following the sessions, the 8th Ethnosport Forum ended with the Traditional Sports Awards Ceremony, where individuals and institutions contributing to the development of traditional sports and the preservation of cultural heritage were honored.
