The World Ethnosport Confederation continues to bring special projects for children to life. Events aimed at introducing children to their cultures by coming in contact with traditional sports and games are taking place in Giresun, Bingöl, and Azerbaijan. Children have the opportunity to experience many traditional sports and games within the scope of the events.
The events aim to create a climate where children, youths, and families can get to know their traditions, get in touch with their roots, and look to the future with confidence and hope and are based on the unifying power of our traditions. The events present a participatory event model that supports all kinds of worth that make the individual a valuable part of the society.
Areas Have Been Established in Schools
Continuing its efforts to popularize and increase awareness of traditional sports and games, WEC is offering traditional archery to students in the areas set up in the school playgrounds as well as the opportunity to experience games such as mas wrestling, mangala, arrow battles, stick games, and the linden press.
They Ride Horses and Shoot Arrows
Having had fun at the stations in the event area, the children also carried out an equestrian event. The students discovered bows and arrows, horse riding, and traditional children’s games and competed fiercely with each other in the arrow wars game. Thousands of children had the opportunity to discover the rich world of traditional sports and games at the events that were held in several different areas in the regions. After the events, the World Ethnosport Confederation presented traditional sports and game equipment to the relevant schools in order to make sustainable the activities the students experienced.
