The board meeting of the National Sports and Games Association of the Republic of Sakha, one of the corporate members of the World Ethnosport Confederation (WEC) was held online. President of the National Sports and Games Association of the Republic of Sakha Alexander Kim-Kimen expressed his gratitude for the rise in popularity of Mas Wrestling in the world in addition to WEC for its significant contributions in this respect.
Held with More Than 50 Participants
The online meeting organized by the National Sports and Games Association of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) was held with the participation of over 50 representatives from federations and associations operating in the field of traditional sports and games. The meeting and minutes of the National Sports and Games Association of the Republic of Sakha, which has taken important steps on the issues of protecting traditional sports and increasing awareness of them since 1992, started off with compliments from the Minister of Sports Innokenty Grigoryev.
WEC’s Mission and Activities Are Attracting Attention
President Alexander Kim-Kimen of the National Sports and Games Association of the Republic of Sakha continued his words by referring to the effort made to spread traditional sports and emphasizing the importance of being a member of WEC. At the same time, he stated that mas wrestling has now become popular in the countries of Azerbaijan, Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Chile, India Kazakhstan, Finland, Georgia, Germany, Poland, and the USA and that they aim to increase the recognition of other traditional Yakut sports in the future.
In WEC Director of Sports and Corporate Relations Levent Akıcı’s speech, which he started by forwarding greetings from WEC President Necmeddin Bilal Erdoğan, he thanked the National Sports and Games Association of the Republic of Sakha, a stakeholder in this fruitful partnership, for their efforts, mentioning that the interests and concerns the people of Sakha have for traditional sports and games can set an example for other member countries. The program, in which confirmation of the new strategies for the long-term development and spread of Sakha’s traditional sports and games as well as the activities planned for this year took shape, finished with the election of the association board members.
