Mangala has been enrolled onto the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity

Mangala, the traditional game of strategy and intelligence with a history of thousands of years and played over a wide geography, has become the common heritage of humanity.

The application for “Toguz Korgool/Toguz Kumalak/Mangala/Göçürme: The Traditional Game of Strategy and Intelligence,” submitted to UNESCO last year through the joint application of the states of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and the Republic of Turkey at the meeting hosted by the World Ethnosport Confederation, was received on the agenda at the UNESCO meeting organized online in Paris, the capital of France.

With the decision taken at UNESCO’s fifteenth session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, the game of Mangala has as of today been enrolled onto the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
