World Nomad Games which is organized with the cooperation of World Ethnosport Confederation who has been working globally to promote, popularize, and professionalize traditional sports and games is postponed to 2021 due to the pandemic. At the instigation of President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan the 4th World Nomad Games is to be held in Turkey, and will leave its mark as one of the world’s largest sports and cultural organization in 2021.
President of World Ethnosport Confederation (WEC) Necmeddin Bilal Erdoğan, stated that Covid-19 pandemic that has been taken the world by a storm, have also shown the importance of WEC’s mission. In his statement, he noted:
“These times we are living has shown the humanity the importance of exercise, sports, and large or small sports organizations as well as games played in small groups. Besides, it has also reminded us that we must not break off from nature, family, and traditions. Throughout the course of the pandemic, World Ethnosport Confederation felt the responsibilities on its shoulder even more and increased its operations accordingly.
However; as we keep health concerns at the highest regard, here in WEC we have adjusted not only our workspace, but our programs as well.
The World Nomad Games has been held three times in Kyrgyzstan, and as the world’s one of the most important sports and culture festival, the fourth was set to be held in Turkey in 2020 at the instigation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. However; as a result of consultations between Turkish Council, Republic of Turkey Youth and Sports Ministry, Health Ministry, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and World Ethnosport Confederation, it is decided that the meticulously prepared organization to be postponed to 2021 due to Covid-19 pandemic.
World Nomad Games preparation committee will continue their work following this postponement, to keep up with creating a rich and well-rounded event-schedule for Turkey and the World. Turkey has been successfully undertaking international sports organizations and taking important steps in sports tourism. By hosting 4th World Nomad Games with its rich cultural and sportive content in 2021, Turkey will maintain and strengthen its claims in this area. I wish from Almighty Allah, a swift and auspicious end to this difficult period; and looking forward to successfully organize World Nomad Games in a healthier 2021.”
