V World Nomad Games to be Held in Astana

Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, will host the 5th World Nomad Games from September 8 to 13, featuring international competitions in ethnic sports. The event will see over 2,000 participants from 89 countries competing across three main fields: sports, culture, and science.

 

Competitions will be held in 21 ethnic sports, including Asyk atu, Kokpar, and Kusbegilik, with a total of 97 sets of medals to be awarded. Major venues include the Astana Arena Stadium, Kazanat Hippodrome, and Martial Arts Palace named after Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov.

 

The "Universe of Nomads" Ethnoaul, a 10-hectare area adjacent to the Kazanat Hippodrome, will be the centerpiece of the cultural program. Daily events will feature exhibitions, traditional performances, an ethnic fashion festival, and a national cuisine festival. A theatrical performance titled "Astana – Capital of Nomads" will precede the opening ceremony.

 

The National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan will host an international scientific and practical conference titled "Nomads: History, Knowledge, Lessons" from September 9-11. Topics will include the history and culture of nomads, the development of national sports, and the nutrition of Central Asian nomads.

Kazakhstan will also showcase its hospitality through various regional performances, culminating in a colorful procession of caravans bringing sacred water to the opening ceremony. This vibrant event will celebrate the rich cultural heritage and traditions of nomadic peoples from around the world.
