The World Ethnosport launched the Solidarity Oba Project in order to meet the sheltering needs of our earthquake victims following the disaster that occurred in Kahramanmaras as the epicenter and that has affected many of our provinces.
The tent setup stage is the first phase of the Solidarity Oba project; it was initiated in coordination with the Disaster & Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) and the Republics of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan and completed with the support of Kyrgyz and Kazakh volunteers. In addition to meeting the earthquake victims’ sheltering needs, the Solidarity Oba Project also envisions psychological and pedagogical support for children and adults within the scope of the Post-Disaster Psychosocial Assistance Project for Children and Families
The Solidarity Oba aims to meet children’s social needs and will also have educational functions.
Activity Areas for Children Will Be Established
Social areas will be established within the Solidarity Oba that aim to take the first steps of a planned rehabilitation process in addition to altering children’s agendas. Based on this goal, the project will also involve concept areas where children can socialize by playing games, get motivated by listening to music, and have fun by watching cartoons, in addition to the tents where children will be able to get support from field experts (preschool teachers, child development experts, psychological counselors).
Support Will Be Ongoing
We as the World Ethnosports Confederation believe during this difficult process that there will be hope in our future by carrying over the spirit of unity inherent in traditional sports to the solidarity-oriented events that will take place in disaster areas with the support of the Republics of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.
