3rd Ethnosport Culture Fest, which is organized every year traditionally aiming to introduce and spread Turkish sports by World Ethnosport Confederation is starting on May 9th. To this year’s event, that puts on its mark not just in Turkey but in the whole world the phrase “Horse Belongs to Rider, Sword Belongs to Girder” will be dominating.
The most important surprises of this year’s fest are, the famous Hawk birds of Arab culture and “Japanese Mounted Archers” “Yabusame”. Hawks which values up to 1 Million ₺ will be showing off best of their stunts and Japanese Mounted Archers who are watched with amazed by the world will be showing best of their skills to visitors. In shows, Hawks of the Arab world will be accompanied by famous birds of Anatolia, Falcons.
World Ethnosport Confederation, who is working for introduction, spreading and professionalizing traditional sports around the globe, is taking its time to find and introduce ancient traditional sports from the dusty shells of history with the events they organize each year. Ethnosport Culture Fest, which is organized each year shows their mission about this perfectly.
In the fest which will take place in Yenikapı Square on May 9-13, a total of 883 sportsmen will compete in 13 different sports. Various stunt shows will be demonstrated as well. A total of 43 tents and 1 khan tent will also be in event area. Besides 14 Turkic Tents there will also be a Qatar Tent. Moreover, “ak ev” (White House) which belongs to Kazakh Culture will be built in the event area. 20 regional tents and tents of some municipalities will also be set up representing Turkish traditional sports. “Diriliş:Ertuğrul”, dervish and traditional ice cream tent are also among Ethnosport Culture Fest surprises. In various sports, 84 horses will be used, counting the horses that will be available to visitors for riding, a total of 150 horses will be in event. Not only 26 traditional child’s plays will be available in TRT Kids Zone, but also “Rafadan Tayfa” & “Maysa ile Bulut” characters will meet with children. Visitors will be able to taste various regional cuisine while watching mangala tournaments, fetih wrestles and various stage shows
Turkish World Fest
In the festival that spans across 5 days in Yenikapı Square, festivities of Turkish world, Middle Asia and Anatolia will come to life. In the festival besides Turkish sports, 14 regional tents representing different cultures will show tent life, and janissary band, sword & shield shows and historical handcraft workshops will be among the activities for visitors. Festival, will turn into a feast with Turkish State & Public tents, regional tents, traditional cuisine, traditional child’s plays, children theatres, horsemanship for children & adults, folkloric dances, Middle Asia traditional toys and oil wrestling events.
World Ethnosport Confederation Activities
World Ethnosport Confederation is established in Kyrgyzstan. As an institutional foundation it currently holds 18 federations of different traditional sports from different countries. The confederation organized many successful events up until this day. Recovering Traditional Sports Forum happened in Turkey with over 200 representatives from 55 different countries. With World Nomad Sports and Ethnosport Culture Fest they helped spreading horsemanship. Besides this, by organizing events in various elementary schools they help teaching our traditional sports to children & youth and help them experience these
